PICK AND CHOOSE

We all have had this experience at some point. Maybe it was picking your doctor . . . or your dentist . . . or selecting a car. You must make a decision, but you don’t know where to start. So you ask somebody -- anybody -- "What do you recommend?"

Why, when these decisions are so important, do we treat them so casually? Probably because we don’t know (or take the time) where to get the information we need to base our decision. It’s likely no different when selecting a test.

Let’s look at some "hypotheticals." You’re now getting more referrals for a particular type of evaluation. Or, your department (agency or clinic) wants a standardized test for clients or offenders. Or, you need several tests for different purposes. Or, the court is referring more domestic violence offenders to you for evaluation. The possibilities seem endless. Yet, a common theme among the foregoing vignettes is "test selection."

That’s what the Risk & Needs website www.riskandneeds.com is all about -- to help people select tests. Obviously, we would like you to select our tests -- but only if they are the best available. We present Risk & Needs tests for your consideration. If you want to compare them with other tests -- that’s OK. And that’s why a "Test Comparison Checklist" is included in each of our tests webpages. To help visitors compare tests in terms of important test criteria. We understand your time is important. And that’s what the Test Comparison Checklist does -- focus your comparisons and thereby save you time.

If you have the name of a Risk & Needs test, click on the Tests Alphabetically Listed link (it’s in the left margin of each webpage), scroll down the test names until you come to the one you’re looking for, and then click on that tests name. This will take you to that tests webpage where the test is described, a Test Comparison Checklist is provided along with an example report and test-related research. The "Cost" or Test Unit Fee link is also in the left margin of each webpage.

If you don’t have a test name, click on the Tests Functionally Grouped link (it’s in the left margin of each webpage), scroll down to the test setting you will be testing in and click on the test(s) that are represented. Click on a tests name and you will go directly to that tests webpage where the test is described, a Test Comparison Checklist is provided along with an example report and test-related research. And as noted above, the Test Unit Fee (Cost) link is also in the left margin of each webpage.
